Thanks to ordinary people investing together, we raised over £1.65 million in 2023, bringing seven solar farms into community ownership and increasing the total share of community owned solar in England and Wales by 20 percent.

Shropshire and Telford Community Energy
CET partner Shropshire & Telford Community Energy (STCE) closed their 2025 Share Offer on 19 November 2025, raising £344,035 from 109 investors (83 new members + 26 existing ones increasing stakes).
This brings total share capital to £640,000—nearly £2/3 million! The funds help secure community ownership of the Twemlows Solar Farm (10MW near Whitchurch) by repaying short-term debt and strengthening finances.
It also boosts the Community Benefit Fund, enabling more support for local projects, environmental initiatives, and community energy across Shropshire and Telford.

A POSITIVE INVESTMENT FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE
Our solar farms have a combined generation capacity of around 36 megawatts. Over their lifetimes, they will:
• Save an estimated 317,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide
• Generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of 12,750 homes
• Create around £20 million in surplus funds, which will be invested into local community projects to deliver long term social and environmental benefit
